Pho Tai in Sheung Wan

Relying on HK crowds for non-Cantonese cuisine is a terrible gauge of food quality.  Vietnamese noodle shops are always packed and everything I dine at one I am left disappointed.  The broth will always have a lot of pepper sprinkled over top which acts as a preservative.

The meals range from $40-$60 for the lunch specials.  The broth is nowhere near authentic, noodles are not the Vietnamese variety but rather than the thick wide rice noodles.

It's not even Vietnamese rice!

They didn’t use the Vietnamese broken rice and the portions were tiny for $60.

Spring Rolls are the size of your little pinky finger.  The fish sauce lacked the distinct refreshing taste.  I am a sucker for Vietnamese food and HK’s variety of Vietnam Restaurants continue to make me a fool.
