Japanese curry seems to be big in Hong Kong.  The sets will cost $80-100/person.  Save your money and hop over to Cooked Food Centres.  At the Sheung Wan Cooked Food Centre, there is a vendor offering Japanese curries in lunch/dinner sets, for a reasonable $30-40/person.

Each meal set arrives with salad and miso soup.

I ordered the curry chicken rice.  The chicken was deep fried and coated in the tempura batter.  It’s tasty but I don’t think I’ll order again.  I did it solely to eat something different for lunch.  Japanese curry has nothing on thai or indian curry.  Taste profile is neither rich nor creamy.  It lacks the strong curry flavour too.  Chicken curry meal cost $32

I also ordered the pork cutlet with egg.  Pork cutlet was again deep friend and mixed in with scrambled egg for a pork omelette on rice.  It’s one thing to add variety to the lunch meals I eat but another to eat two heart stopping deep fried meals.  Forgive me while I take a break from all the fatty goodness, it’s time for a cleanse.  Pork cutlet meal was $33.
