Turnip cakes are a must order item at any dim sum table.  I usually order the turnip cake as I’m not a fan of the taro texture.  Most dim sum places give you two options – steam or pan-fry.  I ordered the steamed turnip cake only to find taro mixed into it.  Perfect.  The health benefits of taro – 3X the dietary fibre of equal size potato, low GI index (potatoes have a high GI index), source of potassium and protein.  Turnip tastes good on its own so everyone knows to eat it.  It’s being able to eat things others find alarming which sets your diet over and above the rest.
